Tactile Echo consists out of four reflective hemispheres that appear to hang in space. The hemispheres together form a three-dimensional echo. The work allows the viewer to reflect on the fact that music consists out of vibrations that move through space. The first hemisphere is the source of the echo, the instrument. When a participant comes into contact with the instrument, the other three hemispheres each create a unique musical echo based on this contact. The viewer gets to hear the musical echoes and can feel the vibrations on the other three hemispheres. Literally a tangible echo in space.
